Broadband Phone Technology – Top 5 Reasons You Should Take Notice

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

For the uninitiated, the term broadband phone is loosely used to describe the technology currently available where one can make telephone calls from a telephone system that sends the voice signal over your internet connection. The call may terminate at a regular phone line or another broadband phone.

Until recently, the technology was not being used widely because of its perceived limitations, including lack of features available. The primary issue however has been that of poor call quality.

Now, continuing improvements in the industry and increased competition pushing the development of the technology have resulted in significant progress, to the extent that some analysts now predict that broadband phones (really Voice over Internet Protocol technologies) will dominate the long distance calling market by 2010 – maybe sooner.

Here are some specific reasons why you may find broadband phones a good fit at this stage.

Reason #5: Portability and Ease of Use

The equipment provided by the broadband phone companies can be used wherever you have access to a high speed connection. Most broadband service companies do not restrict you from traveling with your phone. As long as the network that you are plugging into will “automagically” assign your broadband device an internet address (IP address) – and most will – you are up and running.

This means that you can be in a hotel in Japan and still be accessible at the same phone number – your kids or staff don’t need to know the hotel’s number.

Reason #4: Long Distance Savings

Broadband services typically come with lower long distance rates than you can get from most traditional carriers. This calculates into immediate cost savings. Some services allow you to add one or more virtual numbers to your main phone number. This means that your phone may be able to receive calls from 2 or more different area codes. This virtually eliminates long-distance phoning charges for anyone calling within those numbers’ area codes.

Reason #3: Freedom from Tariffs

For the time being, calls made over the internet are not subject to a lot of the tariffs that afflict your regular phone bill. How long will this persist? There are different opinions on this in the industry, but right now it’s a nice advantage that makes for an even lower phone bill.

Reason #2: Availability of High Speed Internet

All the cost saving and convenience reasons already mentioned would not do much to propel the growth of the broadband phone market if consumers did not have access to high speed connections at their homes.

Broadband phones perform the best when using cable or DSL highspeed internet connections. While companies that have local area networks with high speed connections to the internet can investigate VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) relatively easily.

Reason #1: Clarity of Sound

The top reason why broadband phone services are currently making swift inroads is that the call quality has significantly improved. All of the major players now offer services that work satisfactorily for residential use and some can consistently meet the most stringent business requirements for clarity.

Finally, considering the initial small investment that may be required to get a broadband phone account up and running, the volume of savings you are likely to experience within a short period is very significant. The flexibility, ease of use (technical know-how not needed) combined with improvement in quality definitely makes this bandwagon a good ride.

The Daily Rite

Monday, December 29th, 2008

If you want to be a writer, then you must write – you must write something every day.

If possible, have an established time to write every day. Budget your time to make that period available even if it is only a few minutes. You will be surprised how much you can write in a short period of time. This writing should have a dual purpose: first, to improve your writing skills, and, second, to record your ideas.

As well, a special writing place is also helpful. It should preferably be a spot where you are free from the distractions of daily livinga corner of a bedroom, living room, or even kitchen, but it should be your writing site. Of course, an office of your own would be a preferred location. It is surprising how the mind can develop creatively if given the chance.

To write every day requires a plan; it requires a time; it requires a location; it requires a focus; and it requires a reason. The first two have already been dealt with, so what is a focus plan? A focus plan is a decision of what kind of writing one will do: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, essays, articles, short stories, etc. Here, the writer has to find his/her voice. Do not spend the writing time thinking about it; the important thing is to write and the voice will come.

Of course, a focus requires a reason for writing. Is it for personal satisfaction and enjoyment only? On the other hand, is it for public consumption and financial augmentation? Perhaps both. Usually, though, one writes to share one’s thoughts and ideas with readers.

What about ideas and topics? Without them, a writer is lost. In writing every day, the goal is to express whatever comes to minda memory, a gripe, a desire, a feeling, an incident, or grammatical exercise. It really does not matter; the important activity is the writing. Once started the words usually flow.

So, write something every day.

Article Marketing & Copywriting Secret: How To Make Your Article TITLE Sell

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Most authors are wasting their time producing dozens to hundreds of high quality articles that never reach a fraction of their traffic potential. It’s a darn shame.

When I review the behind-the-scenes traffic statistics on over 20,000 articles that have produced over 1 million monthly page views in my article marketing lab…ONE thing is clear: All articles are not created equal even when everything about them is identical except for the TITLE.

The reason is probably not what you think.

If you’ve been schooled on traditional copywriting, you know that in the offline world, the headline determines as much as 95% of the success of the book or article. This statistic takes into consideration what makes the book title successful: Whether a human buys it or not.

Article Marketing on the Internet is a whole different story because of the way your articles reach humans who have an interest in them.

MYTH: Most people will read your articles because they came to a website and started browsing just like they do if they were to have gone to a local book store to find a book of personal interest.

FACT: Wrong! Most people will search the Internet using one of the major search engines and they will be putting in between 1 to 5 keywords that are related to the topic of the article or information they are looking to locate. The search engines will then deliver results that best match the human’s interest.

YOUR GOAL: To have your articles show up in the search engine results for the keywords and topics that are most related to the content of your article.

HOW?

You must embrace this TITLE creation & traffic-building truth:

The first 3-5 words of your TITLE determine the success of your article in terms of how much traffic your article will generate back to your website. Success can only be had when you create keyword rich titles for your articles that match the most commonly searched keywords for your topic.

How to determine which keywords are rich and the right ones to use for your article?

You’ll need a keyword research tool. Some are free and some are fee-based. Overture.com has a popular keyword research tool that shows you the most common search results from the Yahoo search engines directory. If you want to see what’s on “Google’s Mind” you can try one of their current beta tools called “Google Suggest”:
http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en&complete=1

Whether you use a web-based keyword research tool or invest in one of the more advanced application level software keyword research tools, it’s critical that you learn know how to do keyword research.

A “Good” vs. “Bad” TITLE Example:

Here is an example of the difference between a non-keyword rich TITLE vs. a very keyword rich TITLE that is proven to perform better in terms of traffic creation:

Bad TITLE Example:

“Top 9 Ways You Can Acquire Fractional Jet Ownership”

Excellent Keyword Rich Title Example:

Fractional Jet Ownership – 9 Strategies to Help You Acquire Your Private Jet

Why is it more effective?

Because it does not waste the first 3 words of the title with meaningless garbage words like “top” or the number “9″ or “ways”…and gets right to the important words that might be found when someone is using a search engine to research a topic related to your article.

You’ll also notice in my example that I included the word “Private” Jet. Why? Because my keyword research said that people who search for fractional jet also search for the word “private jet” and therefore I wanted to boost the chances that my title would be found by a larger number of potential visitors to the article.

Two recommendations on what NOT to do:

1) Don’t include garbage characters in your TITLE such as quotes, tildes, asterisks or anything else that a search engines has to work hard to discard in order to understand the TITLE of your article.

2) Do not engage in any search engine spam technique by having keyword rich TITLES that have nothing to do with the topic of your article. You’ll only be hurting yourself as the search engines already aggressively filter out bad behavior like this.

YOUR INTELLIGENT KEYWORD RICH TITLE COPYWRITING CONCLUSION:

If you want to maximize your results from any article marketing strategy, you must master keyword research so that you can create keyword rich and intelligent article TITLES. Your pay off will be massive amounts of traffic to your articles and website thanks to the search engines who love smart keyword rich TITLES!

Its All Change at Oil Giant

Monday, December 29th, 2008

The time has come for the oil giant to bid a fond farewell to Peter Sutherland , its Irish chairman, but what is next for the CV of the man who’s already run the World Trade Organisation?

Peter Sutherland was in a grim mood on Monday morning: the day preceeding his native country’s loss to Argentina in the Rugby World Cup, he could scarcely contain himself. He’d been present at the game at Parc des Princes with his children and words such as “suicidal” and “bejesus” poured from his lips.

Yesterday, he was on the Eurostar, travelling back to Paris, for a meeting that was a fusion of not only business but politics also. Such are the overlapping worlds of Sutherland: Dubliner, father of three, huge rugby enthusiast, chairman of BP, chairman of Goldman Sachs International, new chairman of the London School of Economics, diplomatic fixer and afterdinner speaker extraordinaire.

If at the Pearly Gates we are given the option I’d like to come back as a smart Irishman. In the past, I might deliberated over being an English aristocrat but it’s the Irish who are in charge now. They seem to be in charge of everything. None more so than, a key figure in two business powerhouses as well as an extremely wealthy individual, thanks to his partnership at Goldman. But he’s served for a decade at BP and has begun the search for someone to take the reins. Suddenly, the oil giant needs to accept the reality of life without him .

It’s very easy to establish through talking to anyone at BP, these past few years to realise what a force behind the scenes Sutherland has been. While the company has had a variety of issues in America, they have been operational. On personnel matters, notably the attempt by Lord Browne and his friends to get the chief executive’s term extended, and then Browne’s departure following his lying under oath, Sutherland has played a pivotal role. His contribution in bringing BP forward is something which few can dispute.

Write an Ezine? But I Don't Know HOW!

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Copyright © 2003 Priya Shah

If you’ve been promoting your business on the internet you’ve probably heard how important it is to have a list. And that it’s also important to publish an ezine.

So are you publishing and ezine? If not, why? Is it because you are too nervous or lack confidence?

I can understand how you feel. I’ve been there, even though I’m a journalist and published my own niche, non-profit newsletter for a year.

But when I started a home business and realized I needed to write about internet marketing – a subject I was still unfamiliar with – I froze up.

I simply could not think of anything to write about. I felt like I just did not have the experience and the knowledge I needed, because I was still learning.

I started my ezine only when things were really starting to take off and I had learned a good deal of what really worked for me in my business.

In retrospect, I don’t think I’d have done it any differently, but I did learn a few things from my own experience that might make it less painful to start your new ezine.

1. Start With a Script

Writing the first few issues of your ezine is like starting a conversation with a new date.

You’re nervous… you want to make a good impression. Most people will use a few tried and tested formulas to break the ice.

Similarly, when you want to start sending out your ezine, there are a lot of resources out there – tested formulas that experts have used with their own subscribers.

It could be a sales letter, an article, a tip, a template or anything else that you think could get you started with that first issue.

As on a first date, the conversation might be a bit awkward, your sentences may sound stilted. It could be a disaster as far as you’re concerned. So what!

The first few articles I ever wrote make me cringe when I read them today. But I know I needed to write them to start building my own confidence.

Disastrous first dates leave much the same impression on people. But the similarity to dating ends there.

Because in writing an ezine you DO get a second (and third, and fourth…) chance to make an impression.

Your date may never call back, but with your subscribers, you can try again and again till you get it right.

If you do make a mistake (like sending out multiple copies by mistake), admit your mistake and apologize. You’ll find that subscribers, unlike dates, can be quite forgiving.

When new network marketers approach a new prospect, they are always advised to use a script the first few times.

As they gain confidence, the words begin to flow more naturally and they are able to discard the scripts and become better at selling.

It takes time, and more importantly, practice, to get it right. But if you never start, how will you ever find out if you can do it?

2. Write Like You Speak

As you gain confidence in your ability to write and publish an ezine, you’ll begin to get more comfortable with the process of publishing.

Now you might want to start writing your own editorials or tips, to make your ezine more personal and share your expertise in your subject.

To do this, imagine you’re sitting in front of an old friend (or that your subscribers are your friends) and that you’re bringing them up-to-date with what’s been happening in your life.

If you had an experience, good or bad, while promoting your business, that taught you something new, share it with them in the most conversational tone.

Avoid rambling on interminably and leave out boring details that aren’t crucial to what you learnt.

And always go back, read what you’ve written and edit it before you send it out to your list.

3. Keep Learning

There’s no bigger turn off than an editor who knows less than her subscribers. So if you plan to write on a certain topic, make sure you do your homework.

If you’re writing about eBook publishing, subscribe to all the ezines and article lists on that subject and read them to find out what’s happening in that field. Then share the news with your readers.

You could also take some initiative and conduct a survey or two, find out something new about your field and write your own original articles or reports.

4. Speak Your Mind

Once you have established a publishing schedule and have developed a comfortable rapport with your subscribers, don’t be afraid to share your opinion on new developments in your field.

If you have a strong opinion on something, its alright to say so. People feel more comfortable when they know where you’re coming from, even if they don’t always agree.

So what are you waiting for? Send out that first issue and take your business to a whole new level.

Make a date with your list now.

Global Dumbing?

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

I am beginning to wonder if scientists have been getting it all round. All this time, people have been worried about the Ozone, a giant asteroid, or some breakout of a bio-hazardous agent by a terrorist organization being the doom of mankind. We have spent all this time looking outward instead of inward towards ourselves.

The latest studies have identified to startling facts. 1 – that the whole in the Ozone layer is getter smaller, and 2 – that the brightness levels on the earth our getting dimmer. Does this all mean that Global Warming was all just a sham? That those corporations who continue to abuse our earth with reckless abandon have been right all along? That tree-hugging hippies have had their brains melted from too much LSD?

Scientists seem to be getting dumber in direct proportion to the grants given by governments, which are lobbied by corporate interests, increases. They have looked at the new Global Dimming phenomenon and said, “It can’t be getting warming with less sunlight!” And no doubt that as this new story makes it rounds about the Ozone getting smaller, they will point to the great job done by their benefactors and reducing Green House emissions and say that the Ozone must be replenishing itself.

Statements like those should be judged as criminal, just as tobacco companies should be held accountable for the deaths of all their consumers. The population must be made aware of the truth behind their corporate agenda. We, the working class, are the ones that can control our future, and dictate to those Ozone depleting companies our new terms. We demand clean air. We demand that pollutants stop being poured into our waters. We demand our forests not be cut down faster than we can replant. We demand alternate, safer energy sources to heat our homes, and power our vehicles. We demand all this because our Earth is dying before our own eyes.

The whole in the Ozone layer has gotten smaller, but at the cost of thinner protection worldwide. We are not just talking about a gap over Antarctica. We are talking about more harmful radiation being let in on a yearly, monthly, daily basis. We used to be able to send out our children to play outside all days. No one needed any sunscreen with special UV protection. Now, one has to only go outside for 20 minutes before feeling the sting of the sun, while sunscreen has become big business. No one will react until research tells us 15 to 30 years from now that cancer has reach epidemic proportions. The warning signs are there already, we are just choosing not to listen.

Global Dimming is the best example yet. Scientists have started to look at how it has become increasing dimmer on the planet. Sunlight is not getting through as it once used to. It is only normal to think that whatever is keeping the sunlight out, must be keeping the heat in. And whatever is keeping the sunlight out is not necessarily providing us with a layer of protection. More likely, it is beginning to coat our planet with more harmful cancer causing radiation.

While I do not profess to hold a degree in science, I do profess to hold common sense. All science has done is identify several situations, but has done nothing to confirm how we got their, and what we need to do to get back to where we were. My belief is that there may be too much corporate interference for any decisive action to be taken. And for the companies who will continue to pollute our environment that is as good as winning. The worst thing that we can do as a population, is not add Global Dumbing to the list. Get smart, take action. You may not be able to make a difference individually, but together, you can effect change. We may always live in a world that separates the rich from the poor, but that does not mean that we have to accept how those in power secure their wealth.

Digital data logger applications and uses

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Many industries and business must monitor and document temperature. Using a digital data logger eliminates the inherent draw backs of the older chart recorder. The digital data logger doesn’t require paper, pens or maintenance. It is all-electronic without the moving parts of a chart recorder.

Industries that have traditionally used a digital data logger or a chart recorder can benefit from the ThermaViewer. The ThermaViewer does exactly the same thing as the digital data logger and the chart recorder without the downside of having to have a computer to view the results.

The ThermaViewer, in addition to collecting temperature or temperature/RH measurements over a period of time also immediately displays the results as a time-temperature graph on its large LCD screen. It is sort of like a combination of a digital data logger and a chart recorder.

The ThermaViewer is a digital data logger:

The ThermaViewer samples and stores in RAM memory temperature of temperature/RH measurements. It can store over 44,000 measurements for each of its two probes. This means that it can store over 10 months of data if a measurement is taken every ten minutes.

The ThermaViewer is a chart recorder:

The ThermaViewer draws a chart of the sampled data on its large LCD display. The big difference between the ThermaViewer and the mechanical chart recorder is that the ThermaViewer draws its chart electronically, whereas a mechanical chart recorder draws its chart with a pen on a paper chart. This means that you never have to replace a pen that has run out of ink or change the chart at the end of the day, week or month.

The ThermaViewer is easier to read:

The chart created on the ThermaViewer is a line graph and not a circular line drawn on a circular piece of paper like the chart recorder creates. This means that any employee who has gone through middle school will be able to tell what the chart is telling them.

Website Traffic Generation…7 Great Ways to Increase Your Web Site Traffic

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

We all know that the secret to success on the Internet is getting your website noticed and producing massive amounts of unique traffic.
Even better still is producing this traffic on a consistent basis and for free.
So how do we go about this task and what is the magic formula that will do this for us on a constant and ongoing basis.

Here are my 7 tips that will certainly in crease your website traffic flow and also increase your websites revenue potential.

1) If you think logically about the internet there are millions of websites and pages available and so you have very little chance of getting significant amounts of traffic if you only have one web page online, so in order to take the first step to gaining more traffic you must produce more websites and more web pages on subjects that are of interest to the general internet viewing public.

2) Having decided to produce more websites and web pages it is of the utmost importance that you research your subjects and look for the niche areas of interest that give you a better than fighting chance of getting your websites listed in the top few listings of the major search engines, These listing are the key to where your free traffic will come from.

3) “Content is king” and so always aim to provide fresh content that is of interest to your visitors and of even more importance ensure that the contents you provide is regularly updated, certainly on a weekly basis or better still on a daily basis.

4) Make sure that your web pages are keyword rich regarding the subject matter that you are aiming to attract your potential visitors. Analyse your web pages and ensure that your pages have a keyword density of around the 5 to 10 percent mark.

5) Do not populate your web pages with too many advertising or affiliate banners links etc as this will destroy the image of your web page as a truly informative page and give the impression of just an advertising billboard, which will certainly turn off a lot of your visitors.

6) If you are trying to monetize your web pages with adsense or some similar program experiment with the placing of such adverts. Top centre just below the header and before your body text is usually the optimum position.

7) If you produce different websites and web pages track the activity each one produces and then try to produce further sites that mirror to some degree the most successful sites, certainly this will lead to your optimum success online.

I hope that these tips will be of help to you and your online success.

Total Guide to Search Engine Optimization PART 1

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

First of all I will start with my own experience. I started my career in SEO about 4 months ago and I work at Netramind Technology as a Search Engine Optimizer.

I never realized that there was so much to the field of Search Engine optimization
until I began working with it. I will show you the ways and the means on how to
get your website in the top twenty in the major search engines.…

I cannot forget one name that has helped me a lot in SEO. Her name is SYLVIA WHITE.

The first thing you need to practice when optimizing your website is patience.
It can take up to twelve months to see your website listed top in the Search Engines.
I will give you step by step instruction for Search Engine Optimization.

If you know good SEO techniques you can demand more bucks.

What is SEO? (Search Engine Optimization)

SEO Stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the means to help your website
reach the top in the search engines. It is essential if you want your internet
business to flourish.

Why SEO? (Search Engine Optimization)

SEO means more traffic to your website from the search engines. By doing proper
optimization your can get absolutely free targeted traffic to your website. This
leads to more sales and more consumers to your website and ultimately higher revenue.

Dos and don’ts of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Following things you must keep in mind while optimizing any website.

Don’ts —

Cloaking is when you make two different pages, one for the search engines
and one for the viewer. In short search engine sees the page which is made for
getting listed in search engine but when user clicks on that page it will automatically
redirect to new page.

Invisible TEXT

Do not put invisible text on any pages of your website. Search engine can easily
detect this and it will kick you back. This is absolutely NOT ALLOWED. Never
put your background and your text color the same “for example” black
color background and black color text. Google may ban you permanently. Many
peoples are doing this to get their website TOP listed but this will permanently
ban your website.

So Invisible TEXT is STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED

Spamming

do not spam for the promotion of your website.

Submitting too many pages at the same time is strictly not allowed. Google
will definitely kick you back if you submit too many pages at the same time.
It is ok to submit 6-7 pages at the same time.

Do not change your Index OR default (Home) page (NEVER EVER)

Never change your home page completely, if you do this Google will kick you
back. Minor changes are allowed but if you do major changes you stand a good
chance of loosing your rank in Google. Do not change your home page completely.

If possible do not link to non-relevant websites. Google pays attention
to back links. If you link to non-relevant website it will not increase your
PR or your page rank.

Do not link to adult websites unless you are also running an Adult website.

Now we have seen “What not to do” I will explain “What
to do” in my second Article

Smile

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

With all the happenings in our life, it is sometimes hard to crack even a teeniest of smile. When we are tired from school or work, and when we are busy thinking of our problems, we just can’t help but frown all day. This will result to frown lines thus make us look older than our age. This affects our disposition and how people look at us. They may not understand the things that are running through your mind because all they see are the lines forming between your eyebrows.

We cannot evade the things that will put us to frown but we can make a few changes with ourselves. Since we just established that those are unavoidable circumstances, it is but right to try to put a smile in our face. This will not only change how people look at you but it will also help to lighten up your face. This will make you feel better and younger as you continue to practice stretching your face and curve your lips for a more enticing look.

Not all people have the ability to laugh when things don’t go their way. It is difficult to keep a bright face when you are having a bad day. Or joke around when you feel serious about something. Not particularly inviting to pretend that you are happy when you want break down into tears. But when you are so down and others will give you a sympathetic smile, don’t you think you owe it to them and return them with a smile? Practice and you will learn the essence of it. Once you get the hang of it, it will not be them who will bring a smile to other’s lips, but it will be you.
