Airplane Flights and Food

I can remember going on an airplane flight not to long ago and the meals were served with everything included. Now things are different, however you can still get a decent meal when flying.

It is best to eat often and when flying on a long trip the airline can provide a meal or two, to play it safe you might as well bring on some snacks or food of your own. The food might not be up to your standards however one of the best tasting spaghetti dishes that I have ever had was on an airplane.

Flying is not that fun for most of us and taking breaks to eat makes the time go by a whole lot faster. Sitting for many hours is not good for the legs, so get up and get some healthy activity around the cabin, it might mean walking to the bathroom even though you don’t have to go.

The food that they serve can make the trip go by a lot faster, and the food that you bring along with you can make it go faster too. There is also the television set where you can watch movies and zone out for a while, all in all airplane flights are not that bad if you do the things mentioned above. Making time seem like it moves by faster than normal is a great strategy when flying.

Dietary Fiber for Bowel Health

High dietary fiber foods are important because they allow foods to be processed correctly by our intestines. Without the dietary fiber we need, there can be pain, bloating, and irregularity. Fortunately, it is easy to get enough dietary fiber once you know what kinds of dietary fiber foods are best.

Non-starchy fruits and vegetables are among the foods highest in dietary fiber. But don’t try to cut corners by drinking fruit or vegetable juice — without the pulp, these juices contain very little fiber and can be sources of concentrated calories, which most of us don’t need in our diets.

Whole grains are also great dietary fiber foods. Whole grain brown rice, potatoes with skins, whole wheat, and barley and rye are great sources of fiber. Try to eat breads made of 100 percent whole grains, because refined white flour is one of the lowest dietary fiber foods.

You can also choose to add a fiber supplement to your diet. Although not as good as food products, a fiber supplement is still great for bowel health. You can choose pills or tasteless powders that can mix with your favorite foods. There are also delicious bars and pastries that are fortified with lots of fiber.
